Teresa- you lead me in to one of my favorite topics: biodiversity! We're all different, which means that there are no rules, only truths. Truths we discover about ourselves. I do very well on a low fat, whole grain carbo diet. Other family, who have sugar issues, need a much lower carb intake with a higher ratio of protein and fat. There is no one-diet-fits-all, so we go back to intent, and awareness. By observing our reactions to the food we eat, we learn what works for us. The key is to learn to observe, which gives us tools for managing our own, evolving personal biology.

so, I'm curious ... the other big diet trend is still the no-carb approach, which seems to be exactly the opposite of the 90-day vegan approach. Can both be true? Or is there some commonality (like maybe in both you just end up eating less and being aware of what you consume) ? BTW, leftover rice zapped in the microwave with a splash of milk (sorry!) with a handful of dried cranberries or those gigantic traderjoe raisins is an awesome breakfast too, one more example of thinking outside the tradtional western breakfast box :-)

Gee I thought I had been keeping track of my weight for a long time but you have me way beat in 1988! The good thing I see about having access to my weight history is it shows me current frustrations are only temporary AND it shows where I started 70 lbs ago.

Whole grains make a great, satisfying breakfast. These include brown rice (I prefer medium or short grain in the AM), barley, rolled oats. Try it with a garnish of chopped nuts, or even some steamed vegetables. Once you start thinking outside of traditional breakfast foods, the sky is the limit. Anything you have for lunch or dinner, you can have for breakfast.

There was a time in my life where I had my "dinner" for breakfast, that was my main meal of the day. My mid-day and evening meals were much lighter. We are all different and have different needs, even at different stages of life! Explore what works for you now, let go of preconceptions of your own past habits.
